Esports, like most young and fast-growing industries, attracts a lot of people who want to take their passion and turn it into their work. You don’t need an esports or video-game degree to start something yourself or apply to work in the industry. No matter what you do, remember you are always working for someone else: your audience, customers or fans.
Understanding what you can do for others is the ideal way to start. Figuring out how to collaborate with others, communicate your solution and be accountable for making it happen are what I’ll focus on in this series.
Each part will focus on one tool that will help you do this. I’ll break down the tool, show you real examples of how we used it and summarise the failures we figured out along the way.
You’ll get an inside look at how we created the framework needed to:
- Create brands like OG DOTA2 and G2
- Develop content for former LCS team H2K
- Manage social media for the Red Bulls owned League of Legends team
- Drive fans to view and attend ESL and FACEIT events
- Create Sales Proposals that lead to us launching the Vancouver Canucks Overwatch League Team (Vancouver Titans)
Along the way, if you have questions feel free to drop me a line through twitter, ig or linkedin and I’ll do my best to answer.
I’ll aim to publish the first piece tomorrow
